Caçapava
was originally created to be the rest
area for muleteers and it still is a rest
area for visitors and for people who live
nearby, separating the two largest cities
of the valley: Taubaté and São
José dos Campos.
Caçapava
went through the coffee period like its
neighboring cities, but unlike them, it
did not grow alongside Dutra Highway.
It kept itself small and it kept its rural
environment that pleases its inhabitants.
Caçapava people are, by far, its
most precious asset. With their quietness
and contagious joy, Caçapava people
make a peaceful city in the middle of
many hectic cities, receiving visitors
with the same typical warmth they used
to receive the muleteers who crossed the
old valley.
