Guaratinguetá village was one of the roots of Paraíba Valley. Thanks to its power and economic importance, it is still one of the main cities in the region.

Guaratinguetá has been going through all the development periods of the valley and has always been among the main leading cities. In its lands, the statue of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Aparecida was found. At the beginning of the Republican period, Guará gave Brazil a President: Rodrigues Alves. Today, it gives its religious people all the miracles made by Father Galvão. Its people, always brave and courageous, has been through all History events without ever feeling down and nowadays its people puts Guará in a privileged position among the industrialized cities in Paraíba Valley.
