Piquete is known as “Scenery City” thanks to its privileged location by the foot of Mantiqueira Mountains. Piquete is located close to the road that links Lorena to Piquete. It was founded after the beginning of “Registro de Itajubá”, in November 1764, due to the necessity of a place where travelers could stay for the night.

Little by little, houses and small farms began to appear along the way and it began to grow spontaneously and then Piquete district started. In 1891 it was considered a village and in 1915 it was considered a town.

It grew slowly and very little until the twentieth century, when fire-gun industry arrived in town.
